What is a DVD?A DVD stands for Digital Versatile Disk or Digital Video Disk. On the Internet, its definition is, ‘an optical disk storage media format that can be used for data storage’. This means that it can store music, video, pictures and any other data in it and it will have very good sound quality. It is a better version of a CD as it is a bigger and faster CD that can hold more memory and has better quality of videos and audio music.

Where would you find a DVD? You can find a DVD in any electronic store in all parts of the world!!! If you want an empty DVD to burn stuff on, you can get it in electronic stores, but if you want a DVD that already has a movie (or any other data on it), you can get that in any normal movie/video stores and music shops too!
Do I own a DVD?Yes I own a DVD. It is very useful for watching movies on as movies take up lots of space and a DVD can hold a lot of memory. A DVD also has better quality for videos and music so I use it to listen to music or watch movies using it. Most of the movies that I buy are on DVD’s. I don’t really like to watch movies on VCD’s, as its quality isn’t as good.

Are there any other uses of the DVD that I can think of? I can’t think of more uses of the DVD because to what I have learnt about the DVD, it is used to save music, videos, and other data;it is used to watch movies too…I am not to sure of other uses for it
Do I think that the DVD will be used 10 years from now or do I think that it will be replaced with something better? I think that 10 years from now, the DVD will not be used as much as it does today. This is because, technology is getting better everyday and 10 years from now, technology will be so good that a DVD will not be good compared to the future technology. Just like a floppy disk is compared to DVD (the floppy disk is nothing compared to a DVD), I think the DVD will be like the floppy disk and compared to the latest technology, it will be nothing.

I think you did good on discribing what a DVD is and what is talent, but didn’t discribe on how it works, you didn’t say anything about the lasers it uses to read DVDs.

Nice job on the assignment. I thought it was good that you didn’t just put down the definition of a DVD, but explained it again in simpler words, and it definitely helped me understand. I agree that CDs hold a better quality than DVDs. At first I thought DVDs would still be used ten years from now, but after reading your reasons, I now agree with you that technology will get better everyday. The comparison of floppy disks and DVDs was a good example to help me convince that technology will be much better in the future. Great job.

Good points and examples DVD. You give great examples of the capacity, but you didn’t show how the DVD works, but i really like how you give all the different examples of the uses of the DVD.

I really liked the way you put the headers because it makes it more organized. All the answers you wrote were not brief and contained lots of new information. I really liked the way you put the capacity for each size. I learned a lot of new things from reading your post. It was really easy to understand. I also really liked the way you supported the idea about in 10 years time, there would be an improved form of the DVD. I also liked the way you compared it to the floppy disk. GREAT JOB!
